As we all know, it does take a village, a community of family and friends, to raise a child. I have discovered that it takes that same village to produce a book, because without their love, support, and encouragement, The Noble Anthony and His Lady Cleopatra would still just be stories rolling around in my head. Athena S. Cochrane-whose loyalty and devotion to her friend helped me to define what friendship is. Jena Cochrane-the gift of a daughter whom I never knew that I wanted or needed but whom the universe gave to me anyway. I will never stop being grateful for this wonderful gift. Loryn Austin-fun, laughter, and friendship. Alyssa Holleran-the best-ever plan-B saving angel. The entire congregation of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church of Bowie, Maryland. The Bowie Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. The Bowie Police Department. The entire population of Bowie, Maryland. Every dog and cat whom I have ever met or owned or has owned me. They don’t know or care about all the things that we as humans worry about so much: Does my boss like me? Have I gained five pounds (or fifty)? Will this outfit impress anyone? They only know that you have returned to them each day so you can love them and be loved by them-yes, even the cats.
